Overweight and obesity
Almost two thirds of adults are overweight or obese and so are putting their health at risk. Health experts agree that weighing too much increases the risk of a number of health problems including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, certain cancers, gallstones, osteoarthritis and joint and back pain, and can make us feel tired and breathless. The good news is, exercising regularly and eating a healthy, balanced diet as outlined in the Eatwell Guide can help us manage our weight. Making little changes to our diet and exercise habits can make big differences when it comes to our health and waistlines. One easy change we can make is to eat more – rather than less – fish! Experts recommend we eat two portions of fish a week, one of which should be oily.
