Kilocalories (kcal)

Kilocalories are more commonly known as calories and are shortened to kcal on food labels. The amount of calories in fish depends on the type, but as a rule, white fish and shellfish tend to be lower in calories than oily fish. This is because oily fish usually contain more fat. Meanwhile, the calories in fish come with a good helping of nutrients, such as protein, vitamins and minerals.
