Fertility

Eating a balanced diet is important if you’re trying for a baby, for both men and women. In particular, it’s important to have enough zinc. This mineral is essential for normal fertility and reproduction, and it also maintains normal levels of testosterone in men. Octopus, sprats and shellfish such as clams, cockles, coldwater prawns and mussels all contain zinc, while anchovies, crabmeat and oysters are especially rich in this mineral. Meanwhile, selenium – which most fish contain good amounts of – is needed for the normal production of sperm.
