Mussels
Mussels are available all year round and are much easier to prepare than you might think. Give them a go, you won’t regret it!
Mussels have bluish-black shells and a delicious meaty centre. The UK’s native mussel is now cultivated on ropes suspended in the water which means they don’t touch the seabed or pick up grit or barnacles. This means less work when it comes to cooking them!

Top tip
Available fresh or frozen, they taste great in classic French dishes like moules marinières or as part of a mouthwatering seafood stew.
