Pack in the protein
All varieties of fish play an important part in a healthy diet for mums-to-be and new mums as they’re packed with protein, a nutrient that supports the growth of muscle and bone. In the UK, experts agree pregnant women need slightly more protein than those who aren’t pregnant to support the growth of their developing baby1. Similarly, breastfeeding women also have greater needs for protein in order to produce nutritious breast milk*. Eating any type of fish – white, shellfish or oily – can help to meet these increased needs.
