Pinch, punch, it’s the first of the month and with that comes a new seafood and this May its tuna! Coincidentally, it’s also World Tuna Day on Wednesday 2nd May, a double celebration.
We love tuna for so many different reasons; firstly it has a great flavour which stands on its own or it can be combined with so many different flavours such as spices and chillies! Secondly it can be flash grilled, griddled or pan-fried and last but not least you can buy it in a variety of ways, tinned steaks or even as a sandwich filler!
We probably have you salivating now, so without further ado here are some of our favourite recipes:
We couldn’t start off without mentioning our Groot tuna sandwich, perfectly timed with the new Avengers: Infinity War movie. It’s simple to make and your little ones will love it.
This tuna gnocchi gratin from our friends from the Seafood School at Billingsgate Seafood Market is so tasty and easy to create, plus it’s perfect for those nights when you need a meal that will bring everyone together.
A quick and scrumptious recipe that will fill you up at lunchtime is this tuna nicoise baguette. It can be ready in less than 30 minutes, and you can even save half for tomorrow or share it with someone special!
Now that summer is just around the corner, try out this tuna salad nicoise. A bright and colourful dish that you could have as a starter or a main course, plus you will be getting your two a week as it contains anchovies too!
