It’s the beginning of the month and with that comes a new seafood of the month and this April it’s hake!
It hard to believe but hake isn’t as popular in the UK as it is in Europe and we would love more people to try this delicious fish! It’s generally exported to Spain, Portugal and Italy where it’s very much in demand.
Its flesh firms up on cooking which means it’s great for cutting into steaks and it has an excellent flavour. You could always try it as an alternative to cod or haddock for fish in chips. Soooo tasty!
Your kids will love to help you with this recipe – Wolverine hake kebabs. They can pretend to be the hairy superhero with these kebab sticks (with parental supervision). This is such a simple way to get children involved in creating their meals.
This hake dish with crisp sweet garlic and olive oil is sooo mouth-wateringly good that it’s hard to say no to! It’s ready in less than 15 minutes as well. A win/win for those garlic lovers amongst you!
Our friends at the Seafood School at Billingsgate Market have shared this full of flavour recipe with us. With asparagus, jersey royals and mint en papilotte your mouth will be watering by the time it’s ready. Luckily it’s only 20 minutes to get ready.
Hake in a hurry from Karen Burns-Booth has proved that fish is the ultimate fast food with this scrumptious recipe. With just a handful of ingredients, this dish is so simple and so filling. Enjoy!
